📚 From Manuscript to Readers: A Two-Part Publishing Workshop

Updated: 2 days ago

You have poured your heart into your story. The words are on paper (or perhaps still swirling in your head), and you dream of seeing your book in the hands of readers. But then comes the big question: What next?

Do you need an editor? Should you self-publish or chase a traditional deal? How do you even get an ISBN? And once your book is out there—how on earth do you make sure people read it?

These are the questions that stop so many brilliant manuscripts from becoming books. And even more books from becoming read.

That’s why Dagny Sol (Editor, Ghostwriter, Writing Coach) and I, Nirja Sharma (Publisher, Author), are bringing you a two-part workshop designed to walk you through the entire journey—from manuscript to book, and from book to readers.

Session 1: From Manuscript to Book

This session is for every writer who’s wondered: What happens after I finish my draft?

We’ll cover:

  • Editing explained: Developmental, copy, and proofreading (with Indian examples of what happens when editing is skipped).

  • Publishing pathways: Traditional, self, and hybrid publishing—pros, cons, and costs.

  • Covers & formatting: Why readers do judge a book by its cover, and how to make yours stand out.

  • ISBN & legal basics: How to get an ISBN for free in India (and avoid scams).

  • Distribution: From Amazon KDP to independent bookstores.

  • Print vs eBook: What works in India, what doesn’t.

Session 2: From Book to Readers

This is where most authors panic—marketing.

We’ll break it down into simple, doable steps:

  • Reality check: Writing is half the journey. Marketing is the other half.

  • Top 10 author challenges: From budget fears to bad reviews—how to tackle each one.

  • Smart social media: Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, Goodreads, YouTube—where to post, how often, and what kind of content works.

  • Launch strategies: Pre-launch buzz, launch-day events, and maintaining momentum post-launch.

  • Reviews & credibility: Amazon, Goodreads, blurbs, and how cover + blurb + reviews work together.

  • Long-term growth: Building a career as an author, not just publishing one book.

Why This Workshop?

Because publishing can feel like a maze—and you don’t have to walk it alone.

  • Dagny Sol brings years of experience shaping manuscripts into books readers love.

  • I bring my journey of publishing journals and books, building communities, and helping writers avoid costly mistakes.

Together, we aim to provide you with what we wish we had when we began: a clear roadmap, practical tools, and the confidence to move forward.

What Participants Will Gain

  • Clarity on editing, publishing, and marketing.

  • Confidence to make the right choices for your book.

  • Real examples from Indian publishing—no vague jargon.

  • A chance to ask your burning questions in a live Q&A.

🔖 FAQs

  1. Do I need a finished manuscript to attend?

No. Even if you’re still writing, you’ll gain clarity on what comes next, and it may even shape how you approach your draft.

  1. Will the sessions be recorded?

    No (live only).

  2. What if I’ve already published a book?

Then Session 2 (marketing & readers) will be beneficial. Many authors realise that publishing is just the beginning—selling and reaching readers is an ongoing journey.

  1. Will I be able to self-publish my book independently after these sessions?

Yes. The sessions are designed to give you a step-by-step roadmap for self-publishing in India (ISBN, Amazon KDP, printing, distribution). You’ll leave with the knowledge and checklists you need to manage it confidently on your own.

  1. Do I need to be “tech-savvy” for this?

Not at all. We’ll explain everything in simple terms and share beginner-friendly tools and resources.

  1. Will this workshop help me get a traditional publisher?

We can’t guarantee a deal, but you’ll understand precisely what publishers look for, how to approach them, and whether traditional publishing is the right path for you.

  1. Will I get personal feedback on my book?

The sessions are group-based, but there will be Q&A time at the end of each session. You can ask specific questions and get guidance.
